Qinhuangdao Glass Industry Research and Design Institute Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as QGRDI) was originally established in the 1950s. In 1971, it was relocated from Beijing to Qinhuangdao. Previously affiliated with the State Building Materials Bureau, it is now part of China National Building Material Group, the Fortune Global 500 .

QGRDI was one of the first national scientific research institutes established after the founding of New China. It is the cradle of Chinese glass technology and the first national-level industrial design center in China's glass industry. Among the six institutions that invented the "Luoyang Float Glass Process" technology, QGRDI holds two seats.

As a Class A design unit in the building materials industry, QGRDI currently has four major business platforms: Engineering Design Center, Industrial R&D Center, National-Level Window Technology and Information Platform, and High-Tech Industry Equipment Manufacturing Park. We mainly undertake tasks such as engineering design of glass production lines, general contracting of projects both domestically and internationally, installation and commissioning, and production startup. We also develop various proprietary technologies and equipment for flat glass production lines; and provide services including engineering design, technological transformation, engineering consultation, project contracting, and project supervision for industrial and civil construction engineering.
